“Go Ye Into All The World”

Commentary
It is important to remember that our perspective determines how we respond to the truth. If we see a car as only a racing machine we will fail to utilize all of its potential in carrying goods from one place to another. In the same way, if we fail to see all of the wonderful facets of the diamond called Christ’s great commission; we will fail to reflect the fullness of His glorious truth to those who need it most. When Goliath came against the Israelites, the soldiers all thought, “He’s so big we can never kill him.” David looked at the same giant and thought, “He’s so big I can’t miss.”
After rebuking the disciples for their unbelief Jesus gives the great missionary Magna Charta that corresponds with (Matt. 28:16-20), “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature,” (v. 15). This command of Jesus makes plain that no human being is shut out from the gospel and everyone is to hear this gospel with the express purpose that all need to believe.
THE MOTIVE BEHIND MISSIONS
HIS RESURRECTION – (v. 14) – “…after he was risen…”HIS REQUIREMENT – (v. 15) – “…Go ye into all the world…”HEAVEN’S RICHES – (v. 16) – “…shall be saved…”HELL’S REALITY – (v. 16) – “…shall be damned…”Christianity is the only religion which does not demand that the sinner save himself, but the Son of God to save him and keep him. We are to live by faith, not by chance, and to trust God, not tempt Him (vv. 17-18). Jesus returns to heaven and the disciples preached everywhere (vv. 19-20).
Application
As one of God’s children I need to make the preaching of the Gospel a priority in my life. Lord help me as an individual and us as a family to point people to the Saving knowledge of Christ.
Mark 16:15– 20 (NET)
15 He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 The one who believes and is baptized will be saved, but the one who does not believe will be condemned. 17 These signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new languages; 18 they will pick up snakes with their hands, and whatever poison they drink will not harm them; they will place their hands on the sick and they will be well.” 19 After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, he was taken up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God. 20 They went out and proclaimed everywhere, while the Lord worked with them and confirmed the word through the accompanying signs.]]
Illustration: Billy Sunday Looking For Converts
The famous evangelist Bill Sunday was looking for people to tell about Jesus. Since he was going to be in this particular city he wrote a letter to the mayor in which he asked for the name of individuals he knew who had a spiritual problem and needed help and prayer. How surprised Billy was when he received from the mayor a city telephone book. (Em Griffin, The Mindchangers, Tyndale House, 1976, p. 151).
