Blessing of The Millennial Kingdom
December 7, 2020
Commentary
This chapter describes how the Lord will preserve His people. Isaiah describes the situation which will exist when the kingdom is established on earth. He speaks of a future time when Israel and other nations will feast in peace and prosperity. This is after the worldwide judgment of God and it is referred to in the book of Revelation as the 1,000-year reign of Christ on earth.
In this song we find three striking images:
1. The ruined city (vv 1-3) – Reference to “the city” (vv 2-3) is ageneric term for all cities. In Isaiah’s time the people fled to the walled cities for protection. However, the great cities of the world will offer no protection when God pours out His wrath on the nations (Rev. 16:19).
2. The refuge (vv 4-5) – God will be a refuge for His believing people during the great tribulation just prior to the millennial rein. He has always cared for His own through times of trial and judgment. He guarded Israel when His judgments fell on Egypt (Ex. 8:22-12:13). He kept Noah and his family through the flood (Gen. 6-8). He protected Rahab and her family when Jericho fell (Joshua 6:25). Down through centuries He has kept His people in spite of the attacks of Satan (Matt. 16:18) and will deliver His church from the wrath to come.
3. The feast (vv 6-12) – The “feast” (v. 6) to the Old Testament Jew was a picture of the Kingdom age when the Messiah would reign over Israel and all the nations of the world. The “covering” and “veil” (v. 7) may refer to the blindness of Israel to Jesus Christ. When Christ comes back Israel “shall look upon me whom they have pierced” (Zech. 12:10).
Application
It is comforting to know that when the Lord speaks, He does what he says and His plans and activities are closely tied to His word. I want to be ready and waiting for the Lord’s return (Rapture).
Isaiah 25:1– 12 (NET)
1 O Lord, you are my God! I will exalt you in praise, I will extol your fame. For you have done extraordinary things, and executed plans made long ago exactly as you decreed.
2 Indeed, you have made the city into a heap of rubble, the fortified town into a heap of ruins; the fortress of foreigners is no longer a city, it will never be rebuilt.
3 So a strong nation will extol you; the towns of powerful nations will fear you.
4 For you are a protector for the poor, a protector for the needy in their distress, a shelter from the rainstorm, a shade from the heat. Though the breath of tyrants is like a winter rainstorm,
5 like heat in a dry land, you humble the boasting foreigners. Just as the shadow of a cloud causes the heat to subside, so he causes the song of tyrants to cease.
6 The Lord of Heaven’s Armies will hold a banquet for all the nations on this mountain. At this banquet there will be plenty of meat and aged wine— tender meat and choicest wine.
7 On this mountain he will swallow up the shroud that is over all the peoples, the woven covering that is over all the nations;
8 he will swallow up death permanently. The Sovereign Lord will wipe away the tears from every face, and remove his people’s disgrace from all the earth. Indeed, the Lord has announced it!
9 At that time they will say, “Look, here is our God! We waited for him, and he delivered us. Here is the Lord! We waited for him. Let’s rejoice and celebrate his deliverance!”
10 For the Lord’s power will make this mountain secure. Moab will be trampled down where it stands, as a heap of straw is trampled down in a manure pile.
11 Moab will spread out its hands in the middle of it, just as a swimmer spreads his hands to swim; the Lord will bring down Moab’s pride as it spreads its hands.
12 The fortified city (along with the very tops of your walls) he will knock down, he will bring it down, he will throw it down to the dusty ground.

Many years ago, Christian Author and writer James Dobson said, “The Western world stands at a great crossroads in its history. It is my opinion that our very survival as a people will depend upon the presence or absence of masculine leadership in millions of homes. I believe, with everything within me, that husbands hold the keys to the preservation of the family.” (James Dobson)
