Advice For The Bride of The King
March 11, 2024
Commentary
We now switch to the bride’s side of the wedding. The bride received two basic instructions. First, she must leave her family (v. 10) and secondly she must cleave to her new relationship that separates her forever from all that she has known since birth and cling only to her husband, the king (v. 11).
In comparing this to the Rapture of the church, we as the Bride of Christ, will leave behind all that we have known since birth and shall go to be with the groom, the Lord Jesus, and live in His kingdom for ever and ever. We will drop the toys of earth as easily and naturally as a child does some play thing when it stretches forth its little hand to get a better gift from its loving mother. The bride is promised great blessing if she obeys the groom’s instruction. She will receive a gift from the daughter of Tyre and wealthy people will seek her favor by giving her expensive gifts (v. 12).
The scene shifts to the court where the bride is ushered into the king’s presence (vv.13-15). She was beautiful in her gold and embroidered gown as the joyful procession of bridesmaids continues into the palace where the wedding will occur. Next speaks of the offspring of this marriage (v. 16). No longer will the bride boast in her parentage but, rather, in her children. The writer predicts that their sons will become the princes of the land and as a result the king will be remembered and honored throughout the nations (v. 17).
This great passage of scripture pictures Christ’s bride the church with the richest blessings as she unites forever with Him. At the Rapture, we will leave behind all that we have known since birth and shall go to be with the Groom, the Lord Jesus, for ever and ever.
Application
What my children do in their life will be a reflection of what I have taught them and the values I have passed on to them. Whether they experience great joy or a lot of sorrow will depend to a great measure on what kind of job I have done in training them (Proverbs 22:6).

Illustration: Grandmother Gives The Secret to Her Happy Marriage
At her Golden Wedding celebration, my grandmother told guests the secret of her happy marriage: “On my wedding day, I decided to make a list of ten of my husband’s faults which, for the sake of our marriage, I would overlook.” As the guests were leaving, a young matron whose marriage had been in difficulties asked my grandmother what some of the faults were that she had seen fit to overlook. Grandmother said, “To tell you the truth, my dear, I never did get around to listing them. But whenever my husband did something that made me hopping mad, I would say to myself, ‘Lucky for him that’s one of the ten!’” (Encyclopedia of Illustrations #5377).
